DEFINITION (1): Is a type of thought that is, according to Lévi-Strauss, logical, but non-domesticated, natural, and wild. Close to sensory intuition, it operates by working directly through perception and imagination. It is universal and manifests itself both in art and popular beliefs and traditions. For Lévi-Strauss “the savage mind” is “the science of the concrete” (Saladin d’Anglure, 2002,p.506).
