Capturing Web User Profiles. The case of the Greek Social Data Bank

Greek Social Data Bank (GSDB) is the research infrastructure of Greece’s National Centre for Social Research, Athens, for social data, which is initially documented and then made available to the research community via the internet. In order to access social data, users must register and fill out a form with information about their scientific background, research interests and personal data. The aim of this paper is to discover the "profile" of registered individuals and to use the GSDB's online environment. Some optimizations of the application are also suggested, where it will be possible to further discover the "profile" of users by processing the "traces" left by users as they navigate the system.
