DEFINITION (1): Fascism is a form of extreme right-wing, authoritarian supranationalism, characterized by doctrinal power, violent repression of the opposition and tight control of society and the economy, which emerged in early 20th-century Europe. The first fascist mobilizations arose in Italy during the First World War and spread to other countries (Payne, 1983).

DEFINITION (2): Fascism is a political ideology and mass movement that prevailed in many parts of Central, Southern and Eastern Europe between 1919 and 1945 and had supporters in Western Europe, the USA, South Africa, Japan, Latin America and the Middle East.
