SOCIAL TERM: Κονστρουκτιβισμός / Constructivism
APPROVED DEFINITIONS FOR TERM: 6
TERM TYPE: Theoretical
DEFINITION (1): Constructivism contrasts the concept of "construct" with the concept of "substance". According to the theory of social construction, the properties of things, the content of relations and identities are products of the action while knowledge is an active process, the outcome of which is related to the different forms of symbolic action which organizes them (Παπαταξιάρχης, 1996,σ. 197 - *μτφ από τα ελληνικά).
DEFINITION TYPE: Nominal
DEFINITION WRITER: Deligiannidou Maria
DEFINITION COMMENTS: Constructivism is an... ongoing discussion with multiple starting points such as theories of cultural meaning (of phenomenological inspiration and anthropological expertise), theories of practice (of Marxist origin) and post-structuralist theories of deconstruction and difference (of linguistic origin). Common ground is theoretical and mainly methodological anti-essentialism.
